He was born in 1274 A.H (1857 A.D) in Zangipur. Lost his father at the age of 10 years, his maternal grandfather Mir Inayath Hussain who had settled in Varanasi (then Banaras) took took up the responsibility of bringing up Ali Jawad sahib and hence he was brought up in Varanasi. He pursued his initial education under Moulana Syed Imdad Ali sahib Banarsi and Moulana Raza Hussain Navezvi. Later he embarked to Lucknow to pursue higher education where Sheikh sahib Karbalai awarded him Ejaza-e-Ijtehad but his magnanimous simplicity was such that he did not reveal it to anyone else. Later on he returned to Varanasi and devoted his time for the services to Islam.
During those days he also encouraged a lot of small time bakers and sweetmakers from the minority and majority community to setup facilities in Banaras which could also be utilised for the purpose of nazar and majalises.

He formed an organization (Anjuman) FALAHUL AKHWAN which was connected to his family and his affiliates and other Tehzeeb and Akhlakh which also comprised Ghazipur and Banaras apart from Zangipur. He was mostly involved in self reformation and was away most of the time occupied wih his teaching and hospitality oand hence he did not have much time to author plenty of books. His lectures, religious discourses and majalis went on for 3 to 4 hours where he emphasized upon self reformation and success.

He was a prolific orator especially his Masaib (Ghame Ahle Bayt (a.s)) used to be very heart rendering. His four majlises:
18th Jamadussani, Eid-e-Ghadeer
17th Rabiul Awal
13th Rajab
28th Safar
Are very historic and during those times a lot people from different communities and towns around used to attend and appreciated the great facts that he highlighted in his majalises.

He had two sons one Moulana Sajjad Zangipuri who although had not been to Lucknow for higher education served his father and attained great knowledge and whereafter became a revered Aalim.
His other son was Syed Taqi Zangipuri. It is mentioned in Allama Kasuri’s autobiography that I got down at the residence of Qazi Bande Ali Khan in Telyar Nala in Banaras and said that in this family a learned person by name Syed Ali Jawad who is also admitted in a Madrasa-e-Imania Lucknow who by grace of Allah os very close to Ijtehad and a Mujtahid is lighting the lamp of guidance to knowledge, peace and prosperity.

My previous comment was erroneous. Maulana Ali Jawwad's father's full name was Syed Mohammad Sajjad Hussaini Zangipuri, Syed Mohammed Qasim Hussaini Zangipuri was elder brother of Moulana Ali Jawwad
